Grocery store union UFCW Local says it has reached a tentative agreement with Safeway, ending the ongoing strike.

Updated on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 4:52 p.m. More Safeway stores went on strike this week with contract negotiations stalled. The union isn't announcing which stores are going on strike in advance.

Union members in four bargaining units in Estes Park, Fountain and Pueblo, as well as the Safeway Distribution Center in Denver, started the strike at 6 a.m. Sunday, June 15.

All Safeway stores in Colorado will remain open, but locations affected by the strike will operate with adjusted hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pharmacies will continue to remain open as usual.
