The Holden Red Engine, also known as the Red Motor, was introduced in the 1963 Holden EH range. It was a completely new engine, distinct from the previous Grey Motor, and featured a seven-bearing crankshaft, full flow oil filter, and hydraulic valve lifters. The Red Motor was Australian-designed but drew inspiration from other GM powerplants.
