Photoshop 1.0 was released on 19 February 1990 for Macintosh exclusively. The first release was successful despite some bugs, which were fixed in subsequent updates. Most users ended up using version 1.0.7.

Photoshop 1.0 was the first ever version of Adobe Photoshop to be created. Originally a simple program (named Display) created to display grayscale graphics, John Knoll influenced his brother, Thomas Knoll, to turn Display into a full image editing application which they named Photoshop.

Adobe Systems released a raster graphics editor called Photoshop 1.0. The program was only available for the Macintosh platform (Mac System 6.0.3) and required at least 2 MB of RAM and an 8 MHz processor for its operation.

Sep 22, 2020 · Photoshop 1.0. Before Adobe purchased the software, brothers Thomas and John tried to market the software as best as they could. They worked out a deal with scanner company Barneyscan, who distributed 200 copies of Photoshop with purchases of their scanners. This was notable because it was the first image editing software released to the public.

Version 1 was released by Adobe in 1990. The program was intended from the start as a tool for manipulating images that were digitized by a scanner, which was a rare and expensive device in those days.
