In honor of the Oscars last night, here my mother is opening the 50th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony in 1978 with a fantastic number saluting the motion picture industry! A fun fact about this is that Gene Kelly was supposed to perform this number, however, he got very ill at the last minute, and my mother replaced him with only a few weeks of rehearsal to learn this entire number!
